1937Spain : Texaco a été accusé d'avoir détourner la route de ses pétroliers destinés à la Belgique, pour aller soutenir l’effort de guerre franquiste contre l’avis même du président Roosevelt. Ce dernier réagit violemment à ce non respect de la loi sur la neutralité en menaçant Rieber de poursuites pour « conspiration », ce qui ne l’empêche pas de continuer les livraisons vers l’Espagne via l’Italie, pour un montant total de 6 millions de dollars de l’époque, payables à crédit après la guerre.Réseau Voltaire
