About half a million British businesses pay an average of £1,260 a year to advertise in the Yellow Pages and its companion directories. Yell had asked the OFT to abolish price regulation. Instead, the OFT found that Yell and Thomson directories have more than 90pc of the market, a similar level to 1996 and referred the issue to the Competition Commission which has the power to break Yell up, introduce new controls and enforce other "behavioural or structural remedies". |
