Marcel Frydman, former CEO of Marionnaud, was yesterday sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment sentence and 300,000 euro fine for having rigged the company's accounts in 2002 and 2003. Absent during the trial, Marcel Frydman, sixty-six years, was convicted by the 11th Chamber of the Correctional Court of Paris of "spreading false information", "deception" and "complicity in counterfeiting and forgery." The court also sentenced his son, Gerald Frydman, an eight-month prison sentence and fined 100,000 euros, as a former deputy director general of Marionnaud SA. The former director of accounting, Laurent Ferré, has bailed four-month sentence. Frydman The father and son must also pay damages, amounting to 2 euros per share, to 32 former shareholders of the company. Each of these plaintiffs will receive from 28 euros to 6,000 euros, plus 250 euros for legal costs. |
