Internal restructuring: "We will cut our production volume by more than 200,000 units in our factories in the United States, Japan and Europe," said the group's number two Toshiyuki Shiga at a press conference in Tokyo. "By the end of December 2008, 2,500 permanent jobs in the United States and Barcelona will be removed, and 1000 temporary jobs in Japan. Nissan has increased its sales on the global level, with 1.9 million vehicles sold worldwide, a figure up 4.7% year on year. But it sold fewer cars on its main markets, Japan (-4.3%) and American (-3.4%).:
